Mark Hutchinson

Chief Strategy Officer
FESSIA

Mark Hutchinson is Chief Strategy Officer for the Future Energy Storage and System Integration Alliance (FESSIA), bringing over 35 years of energy sector experience, including more than 30 years in Asia. He works with the FESSIA team to shape the Alliance’s strategic approach across Southeast Asia, with a focus on how storage and system integration can enable higher shares of renewables and more flexible, reliable power systems.

Mark has extensive experience in strategic advice, finance, M&A, contract negotiations and due diligence across the power and renewables, and oil and gas sectors. Over his career, he has advised utilities, developers, investors, lenders and governments on market entry, project development, regulatory strategy and financing structures, giving him a holistic perspective on how policy, technology and capital come together in the energy transition.

Before joining FESSIA, Mark was Director, Asia at the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), where he led industry engagement with policymakers and regulators and chaired GWEC’s Southeast Asia Task Force. In that role, he worked with major industry players and governments to help remove barriers to wind deployment and to support the emergence of offshore wind in key Asian markets.

Earlier in his career, Mark led regional gas, power and energy transition consulting practices at several leading energy research and advisory firms. Mark is a trained economist and holds a master’s in public policy from Harvard University, where he focused on energy regulation.
